FIRST Robotics Competition
Students interested in joining a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team are invited to join one of our established teams that serves high school students from the Chicago and surrounding suburban area. Team meeting days and times for the 2012 season have not been finalized but we are taking inquiries from interested students and plan on hosting FIRST Robotics pre-season engineering discovery days starting in November 2011. To get more information on the teams or express an interest in joining, send an email to thenasalady.
FRC Team 2462 – The Digibots
The 2008 FRC competition season was FRC Team 2462’s rookie year. Based in Chicago Public School’s Marine Math and Science Academ, 2462 was a NASA Robotics Grant awardee and competed in the 2008 FIRST Robotics Competition Midwest Regional Event. Keeping in true Marine tradition, the team’s name changed to the Devil Dogs. In 2010 the team moved out of MMSA and opened membership to the team to any high school student who is interested in participating in FIRST Robotics but doesn’t have a team at their school.
FRC Team 2725 – The Ice Princesses
The Ice Princesses are Chicago’s first all-girls FIRST Robotics team that allows young ladies in the Chicago area who are interested in robotics and engineering the opportunity to compete with a team of other STEM inspired girls. 2009 was the team’s rookie season and for two years The Ice Princesses were supported with a NASA Robotics Grant. In 2011, Boeing became a sponsor of the team and membership was opened to young ladies from any high school in the Chicago area.
